On 4 July the KiwiBuild Unit opened registrations of interest for KiwiBuild. As at 17 July, the KiwiBuild Unit had received 35,496 registrations.

The following provides a regional breakdown of this figure, focusing on the top 10 areas that people nominated as being interested in.

Regional breakdown of KiwiBuild registrations

  • The above figures do not add up to the total number of registrations as people were able to select multiple areas of interest on the registration form.
  • The information collected through the registrations of interest process helps provide an indication of areas of interest for KiwiBuild homes. It shouldn’t be taken as a distribution list of where KiwiBuild homes will be built nor the number that will be built in each area.
  • The Government has not excluded any areas from KiwiBuild and is open to looking at a number of opportunities right across the country. However, the focus for KiwiBuild is on areas with high demand and affordability pressures.
