Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga - Ministry of Housing and Urban Development works to deliver more public housing, transitional housing, and services to tackle homelessness in New Zealand. We also monitor community housing providers.
To do this, we partner with Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, community housing providers, developers, social services, councils and other agencies.
More and more people need public housing. We work with the wider housing sector to deliver more public and transitional housing across New Zealand.
People who are homeless often need intensive support to help them find and stay in housing, and get their lives on track.
Our housing and support initiatives, including Housing First, aim to help end homelessness, and allow people to stay safely housed.
Partner with us
We work with Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities, community housing providers, developers, social services, councils and others to fund and deliver more:
- public housing
- transitional housing, and
- services to tackle homelessness.
We've developed a strategic partnering model to guide how we partner with other agencies and housing providers to meet demand.
Follow our progress
We produce a series of resources that track our progress against our targets.
