Christchurch Housing Accord

The Christchurch Housing Accord was signed in September 2014. The Accord expired on 31 December 2018.

About the Accord

The Housing Accord and Special Housing Areas legislation enabled the streamlining of new housing developments, and allowed special housing areas to be designated under accords between the Government and Council.

The Accord set out targets and priority actions intended to help increase the immediate and longer-term supply of land, and therefore improve affordability of housing in Christchurch.
