Homes for direct sale
‘Direct sale’ means you can buy your home now, without going through a ballot. Just contact the developer or their real estate agent and arrange to view the home or go to an open day. If you have already completed the form to show you are an eligible KiwiBuild buyer you can start buying your home right away. Otherwise, you just need to complete the form to show you are eligible, and then you can start the purchase.
Homes for ballot
KiwiBuild sells homes through a ballot system when we believe there will be a large number of interested buyers. The ballot means every pre-qualified KiwiBuild buyer has an equal chance at the opportunity to buy a home. Before entering the ballot, you should visit the development and talk to the real estate agent or developer about the homes. You can enter as many ballots as you like, but you can only win one ballot.
Buying off the plans or buying a completed home
KiwiBuild homes are offered for ballot at different stages of construction. Some people may wish to buy a home off the plans which means you secure the home, and then move in once it is completed. Others may choose to wait to buy until the homes are completed or nearing completion. It’s completely up to you when you choose to enter a ballot for a KiwiBuild home, or whether you buy a home through a direct sale.

Completed KiwiBuild apartments in the Mason Square development in Ōtāhuhu are available to buy now. Located at 20 Mason Ave, each apartment has a carpark.
Ōtāhuhu is one of Auckland’s oldest suburbs positioned at the crossroads of Central and South Auckland.
