Data issue
MBIE is rebuilding its rental bond data outputs following issues that arose during migration to the new tenancy management system. Together with Stats NZ, we're supporting this work. While we have no reason to suspect any quality issues with the weekly rent data provided, we have not received the level of information we would typically require to have full confidence in it.
The Rental Affordability Indicator, as a part of the Change in Affordability Indicators suite, will have a delay for the March quarter of data due to a delay in sourcing the appropriate data from MBIE. In the meantime, refer to the Stats NZ Rental Price Index for the most recent price-change statistics.
