The government released the Homelessness Action Plan (HAP) 18-month review report. The report shows good progress against the 18 immediate initiatives to make sure homeless people have access to warm, dry, safe housing.

The HAP set out a balanced and comprehensive package of actions to address homelessness that build on and support other work underway around New Zealand to provide urgent support to whānau and individuals who are most in need.

Over the next 18 months more focus will be placed on the additional priority areas. These include focusing on our rangatahi and young people and helping them find safe and stable accommodation. Improving access to health, and mental health and addiction support is an additional priority under the action plan to strengthen the wrap around support for vulnerable whānau experiencing homelessness.
