Tākiri Mai te Ata received funding through the Local Innovation Partnership Fund, last year to open Wa Kāinga Housing Hub.

“This funding allowed us to start developing the Hub that will be a single point of access to a range of services for whānau in our communities facing housing and homelessness issues,” says Lynda, Manager of Homelessness Prevention Services.

“We are working with Tākiri Mai te Ata Whanau Ora Collective, Petone Budget Services, and Aro Mai Housing First to bring Wā Kāinga Hub to life.

Each partner brings significant skill sets which means we can work across the housing continuum from whānau who have a long history of homelessness to whānau who are wanting to buy their own whare.”

“This hub will be open to all whanau, those who are homeless, in emergency housing, transition housing, private or Kāinga Ora rental or in whānau trust or homeowners situations.

We want our whānau to be empowered. The training modules provided by the Wā Kāinga Hub will help whānau in any housing situation to know their rights and responsibilities, manage their money to benefit their whānau, and have a healthy and safe home.
