Te Pae Whakahou Hapori – Eastern Porirua Advisory Panel announced

The Minister for Urban Development, Phil Twyford, on behalf of the Eastern Porirua Regeneration Project partners, has appointed a seven-member independent advisory panel, Te Pae, as Kaitiaki (Guardian) of the vision and objectives of the Project.
The Eastern Porirua Regeneration Project is a partnership between the Crown (including the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development), Porirua City Council and Te Runanga o Toa Rangatira (Ngāti Toa) to invest in housing, infrastructure, community facilities, town centres, schooling, training, employment, and social services.

The Role of the Panel
Te Pae’s role is to work with the eastern Porirua community to provide advice to the Project partners and Kāinga Ora (the lead delivery agency) on regeneration activities that, in tandem with the physical redevelopment of housing, infrastructure and physical amenity, will improve economic, social and environmental outcomes for the community.
Te Pae also has a role in reporting through to the responsible Minister, Porirua City Council and Ngāti Toa.
While Te Pae does not have any financial responsibilities, they can, hold the delivery entities to account to ensure that they are delivering on the objectives in an integrated and timely manner.
Te Pae will report through to the responsible Ministers, Porirua City Council and Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira Inc (Ngāti Toa). It is intended that Te Pae remain in place for the entire length of the project.
