He Oranga Kāinga, He Oranga Hapori – Housing and urban development indicators
He Oranga Kāinga, He Oranga Hapori – Housing and urban development indicators track progress towards the long-term outcomes in the Government Policy Statement on Housing and Urban Development (GPS-HUD). The indicators provide evidence for progress over the next five to ten years.
In this section you will find information about how the indicators have been developed, the indicators for the Government Policy Statement, and data for whānau Māori, Pacific peoples and disabled people.
- About the indicators
- Adaptive and responsive systems
- Stable, affordable, healthy homes
- Māori-led housing
- Thriving and resilient communities
The GPS-HUD system indicators are designed to track whether the system is moving in the right direction towards the outcomes in the GPS-HUD. They provide evidence for progress in the housing and urban development system over a five- to ten-year horizon.
The indicators include information on topics such as homelessness, housing affordability and Māori-led housing. Where data is available, we report figures for whānau Māori, Pacific peoples and disabled people, as well as for the general population.
The indicators will evolve as we continue to improve our understanding about the housing and urban development system. We expect to add new indicators and to replace others as more information about change in the whole system becomes available.
We have also identified some gaps where there are currently no indicators available, and additional indicators are required. The gaps reflect opportunities to work with the wider sector to strengthen our understanding of the system.
