He Oranga Kāinga, He Oranga Hapori – Housing and urban development indicators track progress towards the long-term outcomes in the Government Policy Statement on Housing and Urban Development (GPS-HUD). The indicators provide evidence for progress over the next five to ten years.

Total number of homes approved, contracted or delivered through housing programme partnerships and projects between Māori and the Crown as at the end of the reported year.
Data source and time period: Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga – Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and Te Puni Kōkiri. Figures are across the year to 30 June.
Note: 2024/25 marks the final year of Te Puni Kōkiri involvement in the Whai Kāinga Whai Oranga programme, a joint Māori housing initiative between Te Puni Kōkiri and Te Tūāpapa Kura Kāinga – Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
